Second Hand Smoke
Even a little
second-hand smoke
is dangerous.
Second-hand smoke
can cause cancer in
nonsmokers.
It can also cause
breathing problems and
heart disease. People
who breathe second-hand
smoke get colds and flu
more easily. And they often
die younger than those
who don’t breathe it.
Our Tobacco Free Worksite Coordinator is busy helping numerous companies
devise policies for supporting their tobacco users
to quit and to adopt a 100% Tobacco Free Campus
policies. We also work with local companies enrolling
them in the Employer Support for Nicotine Replacement
Therapy (NRT) program. This OTPF program splits
the cost for their employees' NRT between the enrolled
company and the Ohio Tobacco Prevention Foundation.
Past history has shown that the combination of
the NRT and a cessation program, like the Ohio
Quit Line, gives the tobacco user a better chance
for success.

The LGATPC has an informational Campaign to raise the Awareness
that
second hand smoke is harmful. The "Auto" Be Smoke Free reminds
adults
that loved ones should not be exposed to dangerous
second hand
smoke.
