Community Awareness
The Lake Geauga Ashtabula Tobacco Prevention Coalition focuses its
marketing efforts on making themselves more visible
as well as promoting smoke-free environments for
children and adults. The Smoke Free Workplace Act
of 2007 was a large first step towards our mission.
Currently
we are working to raise the awareness of the
health dangers of second hand smoke in homes and
in traveling in automobiles, especially with
children.
We continue to increase our capacity by holding an Annual
Legislative Breakfast reaching out
to our community leaders. Our
members support our ongoing grass-roots advocacy
for legislation that promotes healthier tobacco
free lifestyles. This includes putting tobacco
under the control of the FDA; Senate bill 625 and
HB 1108 would be a giant step forward to helping
safeguard and protect our communities and children
from being enticed into starting to use tobacco
products.
Our strength comes from within, that is why we are always on the alert
for new Coalition members who will support our
cause. If you want to find out more information
about our Coalition, visit the Contact Us portion
