LGATPC provides a tool kit and assistance to companies who want
to develop and implement programs and policies for supporting their
tobacco users to quit and adopt a 100% Tobacco Free Campus policy
at their worksite.
Cessation
LGATPC is currently training hundreds of local Healthcare
Providers on how to complete a brief intervention known
as the
3A's and an R (Ask, Advise, Assess and
Refer). The 3A's and an
R intervention is used to identify tobacco users who want to quit.
The next step would be to refer them to the Ohio Tobacco
Quit Line or other local cessation programs. These healthcare
providers reach out to thousands of tobacco users being
treated within Lake Hospital System, UH Medical Centers,
and Ashtabula County Medical Center with these brief
interventions and referrals.
Promotion of the Ohio Quit Line
For Healthcare Professionals
and Social Service providers, other than
those affiliated with Lake Hospital System, LGATPC has an Ohio
Quits
Coordinator who'll educate those professionals on how to do a
brief
intervention called the 3A's and an R( Ask, Advise, Assess
and Refer).
Once tobacco users who want to quit in the next 30
days are identified,
they are referred to the Ohio Tobacco Quit
Line and local cessation
programs. Tool kits, handouts and cessation
aids are available.
Lake Hospital Systems Inpatient Intervention Program
LGATPC provides brief interventions and referrals of all
LHS inpatient
tobacco users and those who are interested
or ready to quit in the
next 30 days.
